(Article du site web de rds.ca/midget aaa) midgetaaa.ca – Laval - La Ligue de hockey midget AAA a présenté aujourd’hui son banquet annuel au Palace de Laval. Les dirigeants du Circuit Gauthier ont profité de l'occasion pour honorer les joueurs, le personnel hockey et les bénévoles des 16 formations.
Le vétéran attaquant Louis Leblanc, des Lions du Lac Saint-Louis, a mérité le titre de joueur par excellence de la Ligue midget AAA et reçu le Trophée de la Fédération des Producteurs de lait du Québec, en plus d'être sélectionné sur la première équipe d'étoiles Coop fédérée. Leblanc a également mis la main sur trois autres honneurs, le Trophée Sylvain-Turgeon / Reebok, honneur remis au meilleur marqueur en saison régulière, la Coupe RDS, pour avoir terminé premier au classement des trois étoiles, ainsi que le Trophée Daniel-Brière / Coop fédérée, un honneur remis pour la première fois cette saison à un des 12 joueurs membres des équipes d’étoiles et qui réussit sur le plan scolaire. Ce dernier honneur était accompagné d’une bourse de 1000$ au récipiendaire Louis Leblanc. L’attaquant étoile Yasin Cissé, des Lions du Lac Saint-Louis, a reçu le Trophée Mario-Lemieux / TELUS / Hockey Québec, un honneur remis au meilleur prospect de 15 ans. Le défenseur Ryan Kananagh, également des Lions, a mis la main sur le Trophée Michel-Daoust / Comfort Quality, pour avoir été sélectionné comme meilleur défenseur de la ligue, tout en étant choisi sur la 1re équipe d’étoiles Coop fédérée. STEFANO GILIATI '04 SIGNS WITH MAPLE LEAFS |

The Lac St. Louis Lions are proud to announce another former player Stefano Giliati '04, has signed an NHL contract with the Toronto Maple Leafs. Cliff Fletcher, general manager of the Toronto Maple Leafs, announced Thursday that the hockey club has signed Lewiston Maineiacs (QMJHL) free agent left-winger Stefano Giliati to a three-year Entry Level contract. “Stefano is an excellent skater and playmaker, but what we like most about him is his tremendous competitiveness,” said Fletcher. “He will join the Toronto Marlies this weekend for the balance of the season and the Calder Cup playoffs and we look forward to the start of his professional career in the Toronto Maple Leaf organization.”
The 20-year-old native of Montreal, Quebec, recently completed his fourth QMJHL season and third with the Lewiston Maineiacs. The 5’11, 205-pound winger ranked first in the league in game winning goals (11), fourth in shorthanded goals (5), 12th in points (87) and 10th in goals (40). Giliati was also named to the QMJHL First-Team All-Star Team and played in the 2007 Memorial Cup.
Giliati played 65 games for Lewiston this season, and established career highs in goals, assists (47), points and penalty minutes (103). Over the course of his four year QMJHL career, Giliati played 257 games and collected 94 goals and 113 assists for 207 points, along with 271 minutes in penalties. FORMER LION STEFAN CHAPUT '05 SIGNS NHL CONTRACT |

The Lac St. Louis Lions are proud to announce one of their former player's and captain Stefan Chaput '05, signed an NHL contract with the Carolina Hurricanes. RALEIGH, NC—Ron Francis, Assistant General Manager and Director of Player Development for the National Hockey League’s Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team has agreed to terms on an entry-level contract with center Stefan Chaput which will begin with the 2008-09 season. Chaput, 20, completed his third full season with the Lewiston MAINEiacs of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League in 2007-08, finishing the regular season ranked second on the team in goals (33), assists (36) and points (69). The Montreal, Que., native registered two goals, an assist (3 points) and 12 penalty minutes as Lewiston fell 4-2 in its best-of-seven first-round playoff series against Cape Breton. Chaput (6’0”, 190 lbs.) notched 71 goals, earned 97 assists (168 points) and accumulated 135 penalty minutes in 196 career QMJHL regular-season games in his three-plus seasons with the MAINEiacs. The Hurricanes drafted Chaput in the fifth round, 153rd overall, in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft. He joined Carolina’s top minor-league affiliate, the Albany River Rats of the American Hockey League, for the team’s final regular season game at Philadelphia on Sunday, and will be available to the River Rats in the Calder Cup playoffs.
