March 22, 2010 The Lac St. Louis Lions have evened up their semi-final best of seven series at 2 games apiece with a 7-3 win Monday night in front of 738 screaming fans! After being down two games to none, the series travelled back to the DDO Civic Center for games 3 and 4. The Lions did not disapoint their hometown fans giving them 2 exciting games and resulting in an 8-4 win on Sunday night followed by a 7-3 victory on Monday night. Although the scores seem to indicate easy wins, the Lions have battled hard to win both games each time blowing open the game in the third period. Sunday night's game 3 battle was a rollercoaster of a ride that saw the Lions jump out to a 3-0 lead after one period of play. CCL closed the gap to 3-2 after the second stanza and then took a 4-3 lead with under 12 minutes left to play in the third period. That's when the Lions went to work. Not letting the score or the game circumstances get them down, the Lions quickly evened up the game at 4 before scoring 4 more unanswered goals to walk away with the win in a very hard fought contest. Game 4 started with CCL taking a 1-0 lead on a lucky bouncing puck that seemed to be swatted out of the air with the glove but the referees upheld the call and the Lions were down by one. Less than 3 minutes later Philip Zielonka, the league's leading goal scorer in the post season, tied the score at 1 with assists going to Patrick Walsh and Marc Biega. The second period saw the Lions take a 3-2 lead on Philip Zielonka's 14th and 15th goals of the post seson giving him his first playoff hat trick. The Lions entered familiar ground in the third period leading by 1 goal but did not waste time giving CCL a chance to tie things up. Connor Gagnon scored his 6th of the post season just 2:52 into the third to take a 2 goal lead. Anthony Cortese earned his second assist of the night. The Lions continued their onslaught scoring 3 more on goals from Joseph Manno, Jay Kourkoulis and Connor Gagnon's second of the night. Ryan Kresevic earned his 9th win of the post season with a 26 save performance. The Lions are back in action Wednesday night March 24th at the Sportium as they get ready to play game #5 of their best of seven.
