LIONS WIN GAME 1

 Lions Playoff Game 1 Highlights

The Lac St. Louis Lions shocked everyone (except themselves and their loyal fans!) winning game 1 of their best of five series versus the second seeded College Charles Lemoyne.

The Lions secured the victory with just under 1:30 seconds left to play in the third period on a rebound goal by Alex Cote - his second goal of the night - after a great individual wraparound effort by Geoffrey Gallagher.

The Lions won despite having to kill 10 power play opportunities including three 5-3 power plays.

Danny Dupont's troops were ready right from the drop of the puck as they took an early lead 1-0 before seeing CCL tie the game after converting on a 2-1 break.

The Lions then got into penalty trouble as CCL scored on one of their 10 powerplay chances to go ahead 2-1.  The Lions tied it up at 2 shorthanded on great efforts by Brody Armstong and Alex Cote.  After a 5 on 3 tally to make it 3-2 the Lions again rallied to tie up the game on a Marc Biega wrister that went wide and Brody Armstrong buried home the bounce off the backboard.

Lino Chimienti was solid in the win for the Lions turning aside 30 of the 33 shots he faced including 14 in the third period alone.

The two teams face off again tonight as the Lions look to take a 2-0 lead in this best of five series.

Don't forget to come cheer on your Lions as they host CCL Saturday night at 7:30 pm at the DDO Civic Center!

PLAYOFFS BEGIN!!

The Lac St. Louis Lions enter the playoffs having lost their last two games of the season, including their last regular season home game to their first round rival College Charles Lemoyne.

Although the Lions suffered this loss, the two teams split the regular season match up each winning two games on the road.  This gives the Lions a positive outlook as they begin the best of five series on the road as they play games 1 and 2 at the Sportium in St. Catherine's on Wednesday and Thursday night.

The Lions will be back home on Saturday Feb 28th at the DDO Civic Center as they host game 3 of the best of five series.

Come cheer your Lions to victory!

LIONS PICK UP 3 POINTS ON THE WEEKEND

Feb. 16, 2009

The Lac St. Louis Lions continue to be red hot going into the final weekend of regular season league play.  Having lost only once in regulation in their last 10 games (7-1-2), the Lions picked up 3 out of a possible 4 points this past weekend including a 3-2 win over Montreal, in their last ever home game as the AAA Canadiens at the St. Michel arena.

On Friday night, facing the first place Lava-Bourassa team, the Lions walked away with a tie, despite leading 2-1 and 3-2 during the game, before losing in a shootout.

Solid goaltending, finally rolloing the 6 regular defensemen and the ressurgence of the once non-existent offense, combined with a team committment to winning has set the Lions back on course and at a critical time of the season.

"You always want to peak at the right time", stated Coach Dupont in a telephne conversation as his Lions approach the final weekend of the season and then playoffs. "But I don't think we 've peaked yet.  Our guys are working extremely hard, each individual has commited to the team first concept, but I believe this young team will continue to play even better as the season moves forward."

The Lions will put their commitment to the test this Friday and Saturday as they host cross-town rival Chateauguay on Friday night at the Pete Morin arena in Lachine and College Charles Lemoyne Saturday night at the DDO Civic Center.  Both contests begin at 19:35.
