LIONS EVEN THE SERIES

March 6, 2010

Trailing by 1 game, the Lions re-entered Tois Rivieres with a mission to tie up the series and they accomplished it by firing 33 shots at the opponents net to skate away with a 3-1 victory.

The Lions never trailed in this one as they jumped out to a 1-0 lead after a great indiviual effort by Sotiri Athanasopoulos freezing the Estacades defensemen and finding the open net above Appleby's left shoulder.

Philip Zielonka gave the Lions a 2-0 lead just 1:47 seconds into the the second period on a nifty play bringing the puck from the back of the net to the slot and sliding it along the ice past the Estacades goaltender.  Sam Filion and Patrick Walsh assisted on the play.

After seeing their lead cut down to one, Philip Zielonka scored his second of the night while driving the net and redirecting a Sam Filion pass.  Jay Kourkoulis also picked up an assist on the play.

Ryan Kresevic took care of the rest turning aside all 4 shots directed toward him in the third period to earn his fourth win of the playoffs.

After missing game 1 due to a suspension, Philip Zielonka was named first star while Patrick Walsh earned the second star selection.

The Lions are back in action as they continue their best of 7 series vs les Estacades de Trois Rivieres Monday and Tuesday night at the DDO Civic Center for games 3 and 4 of the series.

Come cheer your Lions to Victory!

MANNO MOVES LIONS TO ROUND 2

March 1, 2010

Joseph Manno's goal with just under 3 minutes left to play in the third paved the way to a second round birth for the Lac St. Louis Lions!

After taking a 3-1 lead after one period, the Lions saw les Forestiers d'Amos tie the score at three after two periods.

However the Coach Goyens troops did not back down to the challenge and at the 17:13 mark of the third period, Joseph Manno tucked in a puck from behind the net after a great effort from Samuel Filion to get the puck to Manno behind the net.

Ryan Kresevic earned his third win in 4 starts during the first round of the playoffs turning aside 23 pucks.

The Lions second round opponent will only be known in a couple of days as the remaining series' come to a close.
